Point Wolfe covered bridge | Dickson Falls | Bay of Fundy coastline
Date of Visit: July 31 – August 1, 2017
How we got there: Drove from Halifax, about 3.5 hours direct.
Lodging: Point Wolfe Campground (site 68)
Favorites:
- Dickson Falls Trail – Short, mostly boardwalk loop through a cool, lush forest to a waterfall view.
- Shiphaven Trail to Covered Bridge – Nice walk near our campground along a wooded ridge overlooking the ocean. Leads to an overlook of the Point Wolfe River estuary and a covered bridge.
- Caribou Plain Trail – Short boardwalk loop or longer loop trail through a variety of forest ecosystems and a bog filled with frogs. Named after Caribou, but Moose are a more frequent sight here now.
Tips: Make sure to stop at nearby Hopewell Rocks park for a fascinating view of bizarre rock formations created by the famous Bay of Fundy tides.
Local Dining: An Octopus’ Garden, Alma, NB
Next time: Hike the Third Vault Falls and Matthews Head trails. Stay in Parks Canada oTENTik lodging.
