Date of Visit: July 11-13, 2013
How we got there: Drove from Glacier National Park, a full-day drive, about 9 hours.
Lodging: Colter Bay Village Cabins
Favorites:
- Garnet Canyon Trail – 8.4-mile round trip strenuous hike with 2,650 feet of climb. Begins at Lupine Meadows trailhead and ends in a rock field with perfect view of Middle Teton.
- Snake River Rafting trip – 3-4 hour Wild and Scenic tour from Grand Teton Lodge Company.
- Jenny Lake Ferry and Inspiration Point – Boat ride across Jenny Lake to trailhead that leads to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point that offers views over Jenny Lake and Jackson Hole.
- Dinner at Mural Room – The restaurant in Jackson Lake Lodge has amazing food and probably the best view of any park dining room we’ve visited. Everyone applauded the sunset.
Tips: Don’t skip this park in favor of Yellowstone, visit both.
Next time: Another long day hike, there are many options in addition to Garnet Canyon. Stay at the Jackson Lake Lodge. Visit the Mormon Row Historic District and its iconic barn.
